Lavender Fresh Farm, a very special farm and nursery.
Our farm is currently under construction to become a destination for tourism and other activities. During this time, we invite our current and future commercial customers and guest to enjoy the fruits of our labor by finding our products on this website. Shortly we will be introducing our products through local vendors in the counties of Fresno, Madera, Merced, Mariposa, Tulare, and Kings in the near future.
2020 has certainly been challenging due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the casualties of this has been the timing of opening our farm to visitors. However, we are seeing light at the end of the tunnel and look forward to completing the farm construction soon, so we can accept visitors who love lavender as we do.
As Lavender Fresh Farm expands, we will be hosting a Lavender Festival here in the San Joaquin Valley in 2023 as our fields reach full maturity. Some exciting activities will include.
Enjoy our website and stay tuned in for updates on new products, instructional material, and farm activities. If you would like to receive updates from us, you can join our mailing list for our once monthly update on lavender education, activities, classes. Etc… That’s right, we will bombard you with notices only once in a month.
Thanks for visiting our website and enjoy lavender.
Sincerely,
Richard Gillispie
Note:
Owner, Richard Gillispie, grew up on a cotton farm. His father, Earl Gillispie, aside from raising cotton, also raised vegetables for market for many years. Richard still owns the original homestead and then purchased the parcel of land next door. Richard's first lavender was planted in 2020 to provide forage for his honey bees that he keeps for a hobby. As Richard studied and learned more about bees and lavender, he envisioned a complete lavender farm for his honey bees.
As of this posting Lavender Fresh Farm has over 4700 lavender plants comprising 17 varieties of lavender. When all the plantings are completed, the farm will have over 10,000 lavender plants representing about 50 varieties of lavender. Richard states that every owner of a lavender farm has their own vision. Richard has his own vision of fresh cut flowers. He states: “My fields are being planted with lavender that lends itself to being marketed as fresh cut bouquets.” Eventually the farm will have a store offering all kinds of lavender products as well as fresh cut flowers. In addition, the farm will be hosting various lavender festivals and supporting nonprofit charities.
